On this channel we explain legal topics and do analyses of current trials. My goal is to explain complex legal topics in ways that don't require you to have a Latin-to-English dictionary. Why?
The law can be an astoundingly complex thing. For any question there are multiple possible answers. My job is to explain things in plain language.
Importantly, this channel DOES NOT provide legal advice. It is a general description of the law based on 28 years of legal practice, hundreds of case, and lots of experiences. As a lawyer I have written a legal column for more than 25 years and am published in a wide variety of publications. I have several books published both in hardback and in Kindle format.

The jury in Banfield has the weekend off and will continue deliberations on Monday. I did not expect an early verdict; there was too much evidence to review. We should know more on Monday. They will have had time to think about this and should come back fresh knowing they won't have to listen to any more filibusters from John Carroll.

Mr. Mumbles has been doing the defense closing for over an hour, and Judge Penny asked him how much more he had, and he said another half an hour, so she took a break. As someone said in one of the comments, he could put an ADHD kid on PCP to sleep. Some of the jurors might die of old age before he gets finished.

The first video of his second day testimony is up but the full cross exam is not done yet. There are so many good lessons in this, and the prosecutor knows her stuff. It should be up after 10 pm central this evening. I am cutting video now, but won't record until much later.

Well, Mr. Slowpoke is plodding along at a glacial pace with his forensics guy. Some of the information is interesting, but you should probably remember that the device is different than the operator of the device, and at the end of the day the expert won't be able to say who was actually in control of the device. He wasn't there. But, because there are a few minor holes in the Commonwealth's story now, they need to call Juliana back in to clarify some points.
Still waiting for Banfield to testify. I anticipate he'll be called to the stand sometime before the end of 2026 if we're lucky.
