Why does faith open the understanding that the Qur’an seeks love for Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ?

● The Qur’an as Living, Divine Speech: The Qur’an is not just a book of ink and paper; it is Allah’s ﷻ uncreated, living Speech. Shaykh Nurjan explains that the Qur’an reads the heart of the one approaching it. It looks for a trace of love and following (fattabi’uni) of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ within us. Without that love, the Qur’an remains veiled and may even appear harsh or closed, because its true light is accessed only through the Muhammadan reality.

● Faith is Rooted in Loving the Prophet ﷺ: The Prophet ﷺ taught, “None of you will have faith until I am more beloved to him than his father, his children, and all mankind.” (Bukhari & Muslim) This means that real iman (faith) is inseparable from loving the Prophet ﷺ. When this love is present, the heart becomes receptive to the Qur’an’s realities. Allah ﷻ says in the Qur’an, “Say: If you love Allah, then follow me (fattabi’uni), Allah will love you…” (3:31). Thus, following and loving the Prophet ﷺ is the key to Divine love and the Qur’an’s true guidance.

● The Walking Qur’an: Shaykh Nurjan teaches that Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ is the Walking Qur’an. When we send salawat and keep his love alive in our hearts, the lights of the Qur’an begin to dress our souls. The Qur’an, as Divine Speech, seeks out the Muhammadan light—meaning, it looks for the love and following of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ in us. When it finds this, it opens its guidance, blessings, and inspirations to the seeker.

● Without Love, the Qur’an Remains Veiled: Approaching the Qur’an without love for the Prophet ﷺ can leave it as a closed book, or even a source of harshness, because its inner realities are veiled. The awliya (saints) teach that only through love and connection to the Prophet ﷺ does the Qur’an reveal its true guidance and mercy.

In summary: Faith (iman) is the portal through which the Qur’an’s Divine Speech opens to the seeker. That faith is defined by love for Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. The Qur’an is always searching for that love in the heart, and only then does it pour its lights, secrets, and true guidance upon the believer.

May Allah ﷻ fill your heart with the love of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ and grant you the lights and realities of His Divine Speech. Ameen.
