महाशिवरात्रि का पर्व हिंदू धर्म में बड़े ही धूमधाम से मनाया जाता है। यह भगवान शिव और देवी पार्वती को समर्पित एक महत्वपूर्ण त्योहार है। इस दिन भक्त उपवास रखते हैं, पूजा-अर्चना करते हैं, और भगवान शिव का आशीर्वाद प्राप्त करते हैं। महाशिवरात्रि मनाने के पीछे कई पौराणिक कथाएं प्रचलित हैं।

📢 महाशिवरात्रि क्यों मनाई जाती है?

1. शिव-पार्वती विवाह: सबसे प्रसिद्ध कथा के अनुसार, महाशिवरात्रि वह शुभ दिन है जब भगवान शिव और देवी पार्वती का विवाह हुआ था। देवी पार्वती ने भगवान शिव को पति के रूप में पाने के लिए कठोर तपस्या की थी। उनके प्रेम और तपस्या से प्रसन्न होकर भगवान शिव ने इस दिन उनसे विवाह किया। यह दिन प्रेम, भक्ति और दांपत्य जीवन के महत्व का प्रतीक है।

2. शिव का तांडव नृत्य: एक अन्य कथा के अनुसार, महाशिवरात्रि के दिन भगवान शिव ने 'तांडव' नृत्य किया था। यह ब्रह्मांड के सृजन, संरक्षण और विनाश का नृत्य है। इस नृत्य को करने से शिव ने ब्रह्मांड को अंधकार और बुराई से मुक्त किया था। इसलिए, भक्त इस दिन शिव के इस शक्तिशाली रूप का सम्मान करते हैं।

3. विषपान: समुद्र मंथन की पौराणिक कथा के अनुसार, जब देवता और असुर अमृत प्राप्त करने के लिए समुद्र का मंथन कर रहे थे, तो उसमें से 'हलाहल' नामक भयंकर विष निकला। यह विष इतना घातक था कि यह पूरे ब्रह्मांड को नष्ट कर सकता था। तब भगवान शिव ने इस विष को पीकर अपने कंठ में धारण कर लिया, जिससे उनका कंठ नीला पड़ गया और उन्हें 'नीलकंठ' कहा जाने लगा। इस विष के प्रभाव को कम करने के लिए देवताओं ने भगवान शिव को रात भर जगाए रखा और जल, बेलपत्र आदि से उनका अभिषेक किया। यह घटना महाशिवरात्रि के दिन हुई थी, इसलिए इस दिन भगवान शिव की पूजा की जाती है ताकि वे सभी बुराइयों से हमारी रक्षा करें।

4. शिव का लिंगोद्भव: कुछ मान्यताओं के अनुसार, महाशिवरात्रि के दिन ही भगवान शिव 'लिंग' के रूप में प्रकट हुए थे। यह वह दिन है जब भगवान ब्रह्मा और भगवान विष्णु के बीच अपनी श्रेष्ठता को लेकर विवाद हुआ था। तब एक विशाल ज्योतिर्लिंग प्रकट हुआ, जिसकी कोई शुरुआत या अंत नहीं था। ब्रह्मा और विष्णु दोनों ही उस लिंग के आदि और अंत का पता लगाने में विफल रहे, जिससे उन्हें यह एहसास हुआ कि शिव ही सर्वोच्च देवता हैं।
इन सभी कथाओं के माध्यम से महाशिवरात्रि भगवान शिव की महिमा, शक्ति, प्रेम और त्याग को दर्शाती है। यह दिन भक्तों को आध्यात्मिकता, आत्म-चिंतन और बुराइयों पर विजय प्राप्त करने की प्रेरणा देता है।
