Sure wish we wore our snowshoes. Some trails were just a little packed down. Others no one had hiked. We kept breaking thru the deep snow. Could feel it in our ankles and knees. We wore ice cleats even though it wasn’t icy they helped us from slipping sideways.

Very quiet and peaceful. Lots of Deer and Coyote Tracks. Saw Blueberry Stem Galls, Snow Fleas, Pine Tube Moth Cocoons, American Royal Fern, Common Green Shield Lichen, Witch Hazel Calyx and Seedpods and Beech Tree Seed Pods. Beautiful woodlands and views of the frozen marsh.

2.07 miles made us tired. Glad to get out for a couple of hours on a very overcast day. I love the snow.

Came home and made Hot Chocolate. That hit the spot.

Gorgeous winters day 38*F / 3.33*C

My Lil Bud was so happy to take a nature hike at Delcarte Conservation Area Franklin Massachusetts. Love the snowy trails and fun at the Playground. 1.5 miles.

We saw the MBTA train twice, millions of Snow Fleas (Springtails), Round Bullet Galls, Pine Tube Moth Cocoons and Locust Twig Borer Galls. Chris and Conner dissected the Locust Gall. Always fun to see the inside. The Larvae had moved on into leaf litter and over winters.

Bubbly Focaccia Bread is so delicious and wicked fun to make. You make the dough 24-48 hours ahead and let it rise in the refrigerator. Then the fun begins, shaping and wiggling your fingers thru the dough watching the bubbles magically appear. I topped with Garlic and Parmesan Cheese.

I made a big pot is Spaghetti Sauce and Meatballs. Made enough for 4 meals. Will freeze two for a future meal which will come in handy on a busy day and leftovers tomorrow.
