A new channel made from scratch that will give you interesting content about trains and buses from London and the South East to the likes of the North and the South West
Brand new CAF class 897 “Serenza” hoping to join LNER in 2028!
Quick info: *These new trains are 10 carriages long * They are tri-mode trains meaning they can run under 25 kilovolt AC overhead wires, diesel mode and they can also run on batteries. * There will be 569 seats per 10 car train with all of them having more comfortable seats than LNER’s existing fleet of Azumas in both first and standard class * They are expected to run along side the class 801 Azumas on the whole of the LNER network which covers over 1000 miles of track.
What improvements do these trains have over the class 225s?
As we all know, the CAF class 897s are due to replace the aging, but beautiful InterCity class 225s, but what improvements do these trains have over the class 225s?
* They will have a three pin plug socket and a USB-C port with table-seat power bars * They have larger wheelchair spaces, improved luggage storage and braille seat numbering * Passengers will expect to see an improved buffet car and water refill points * They will also expect to see digital info screens (2 in each carriage) to tell them about any disruptions on the line
In my opinion, I think these will turn out to be great trains like the class 810s and 230 D trains. They are certainly the best replacements for the class 225s despite them being the icon of LNER, but one thing for sure, they’ll definitely be better than the new Ex TPE Chiltern Railways mk 5A sets as I have heard a lot of complaints about them recently with people saying the trains they are replacing, the mk 3 “Silver Sets” are better. However, they’ll surely do better than the class 465s…
Comment down below if you think these fantastic new trains will be a success or not!
Went to have a look at Robertsbridge today and found myself at Robertsbridge Junction on the Rother Valley Railway. Here are some photos that I took for you to have a look at.
( I also went to Merstham last week so here are some photos of that too).
Today I visited Otford for my last episode of Southeast Tour Series 1, while I was on platform 2, I discovered this nice poster about the history of the station.
Here it is for you to have a little read. Premiere at 7pm - U.K. time
