The California Department of Veterans Affairs (CalVet) works to serve California veterans and their families by connecting them with their earned benefits through education, advocacy, and direct services.
On February 13, 1943, the U.S. Marine Corps Women's Reserve was officially established. We honor all those women who have served with the Reserve or regular Corps. The Reserve's purpose was to release officers and men for combat in World War II, and to replace them with women in U.S. shore stations for the duration of the war plus six months. The peak strength of the Reserve was about 19,000.
This Black History Month, we honor Privateย First Class Jamesย Anderson Jr., Californiaโs only Black Medal of Honor recipient from the Vietnam War. At just 20 years old, Anderson gave his life to save his fellow Marines, embodying extraordinary valor and self-sacrifice. His legacy lives on at CalVetโs Medal of Honor Wall and in the hearts of all who remember his heroism.
๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐ You served our country. You earned these benefits. And you deserve honest, professional help: not empty promises or hidden fees.
