What are the most pressing questions that need a Biblical answer? (e.g. "Are we in Satan's Little Season?") Comment them below, I'd love to make a series of videos that answer these!
Today is #YomKippur. Together we celebrated Jesus’ atoning sacrifice for our sins, reading through Acts 2 when Peter first preached the Gospel following the resurrection. What was the first message?
Peter begins by quoting the Prophet Joel and taught the following:
(1) We’re in the Last Days as Jesus arrival began the 2,300 year countdown to the Second Advent (Dan 8:14, 2 Peter 3:8-10).
(2) God’s Spirit is poured out on both Men and Women (Acts 2:17-18), “The Lord gives the word; the women who announce the news are a great host” (Psalm 68:11).
(3) When Jesus is returning there will be obvious worldwide signs, and everyone who calls on His Name before the return will be saved (Acts 2:19-21). “For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved” (Romans 10:13).
(4) Jesus’ arrival, crucifixion, and resurrection were all predetermined by God (Acts 2:22-28). He did this because He loves us so much, “but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).
(5) Jesus went to Hades (Sheol), not Hell, and proclaimed His victory to those who rebelled against the Lord in the days of Noah (Acts 2:31, 1 Peter 3:18-20). God will destroy Hades and all who reject the Gospel in Hell (Rev 20:14, Matt 10:28).
(6) Peter affirms Jesus’ divinity as God’s Son, quoting King David’s statement, “the LORD said unto my Lord.” (Acts 2:34-36).
(7) Peter provides the first act of obedience following belief that Christ is Lord—baptism by water for the forgiveness of sin (Acts 2:38-39, Matt 28:19). This obedience is meant to continue through our entire walk with Christ—“through whom we have received grace and apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith among all the Gentiles for His name’s sake,” (Romans 1:5).
(8) Although only God could offer salvation, each person must choose to receive the gift. Being not a Calvinist, Peter states “Save yourselves from this crooked generation” (Acts 2:40). Affirming God’s statement to Adam that he is an autonomous being, who must make choices (Gen 2:16, Deut 30:19).
(9) The new Believers then began gathering daily, breaking bread, worshipping, and practicing love. Continued…
How did they show love? They gave like God (John 3:16). “and they began selling their property and possessions and were sharing them with all, as anyone might have need” (Acts 2:45). Until each Christian does this personally and corporately, we will not see the outpouring of God’s power in the measure they did.
“And with great power the apostles were giving testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and abundant grace was upon them all. For there was not a needy person among them, for all who were owners of land or houses would sell them and bring the proceeds of the sales and lay them at the apostles’ feet, and they would be distributed to each as any had need.” (Acts 4:33-35)
This Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, let’s repent of our greed and begin to no longer regard our possessions as our own, but God’s, and begin sharing them freely as He shares freely with us.
“And he said to them, “Take care, and be on your guard against all covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.” And he told them a parable, saying, “The land of a rich man produced plentifully, and he thought to himself, ‘What shall I do, for I have nowhere to store my crops?’ And he said, ‘I will do this: I will tear down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; relax, eat, drink, be merry.”’ But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul is required of you, and the things you have prepared, whose will they be?’ So is the one who lays up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God.” (Luke 12:15-21)

“All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work. I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by His appearing and His kingdom: preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction.” — 2 Timothy 3:16 - 4:2

Polygyny is arguably the most controversial and emotionally charged topic of the Bible. Here’s my recent comments on the practice:
