Doing some research for my next video, and part of it involves the TV show Dallas from the early 1980s. I ran across this column from The Desert Sun on November 29, 1980 About how desperate one man was to watch that episode.

I know it's not college football, But do any of you remember how big this phenomenon was?

I thought you would all enjoy this column I found from March 28, 1970, about Notre Dame coach Frank Leahy.
Certainly the beginning story is funny as hell. And the story later about him being critical and pessimistic and sarcasm are all the things I've been looking for to describe Frank Leahy in an upcoming video.

In a rare move, I have posted a video script at my CornNation.com site. For those of you who aren't aware, I have run the Nebraska SB Nation site since 2006.

This particular video script is finished, and the gist of it is comparing Curt Cignetti at Indiana to coaches throughout history. I would appreciate any feedback before I shoot this and turn it into a video!

I did an article containing some of the best books which you can read to learn about college football history. These are not the most entertaining books, but they are very valid and rich in knowledge and books that I continually use for references.

Please take a look and let me know what you think. There is a spot on the website where you can sign up for a mailing list that at some point I will get started so that you can be notified about articles and new videos.

My publishing schedule has been slowed somewhat. Trying a new drug to control pain from my brain injury and it is not going the best.
Once I straighten this out, I'll try to get back on a weekly schedule.

Happy New yEar!

Now for something completely different.
There are many people who believe that the only way out of the chaos of current college football is to declare student-athletes as employees.
I have been looking for someone that would do a cost analysis of this solution for months and I have found nothing.
Therefore, I used AI to generate it myself, specifically Claude Opus 4.5.

This is a VERY long document. I tried to account for all expenses that would be incurred if you were to create college football teams as a private entity, separate from the universities.

Feedback is encouraged if you want to take the time to look it over.

Chicago Tribune - November 21, 1920.
I haven't played golf in probably about 20 years, BUT I can attest to what it does to people.

I just released a video about Henry L. Williams. I am guessing the vast majority of you have never heard of him, yet I would consider him one of the five greatest coaches in college football history.
Not in terms of wins and losses, but in terms of how early coaches affected the game we watch today.
Williams invented the shift offense. And I'm guessing that, like Williams himself, most of you have never heard of a shift offense. (There can be some argument about whether Williams or Stagg invented it, but I'm going with Williams.)
Shift offenses were amongst the early offenses in college football and they were legislated out of existence in 1927 or 1928. They gave too huge an advantage to the offense.

The three most famous shift offenses are the Minnesota shift, the Heisman shift, and the Notre Dame box.

Have you ever heard of any of these OR have you heard of Henry L Williams?

I'm often asked about book recommendations. What kind of football history are you most interested in reading about?
