First generation homesteaders, self taught...
We are gaining real life skills, experiences and understanding as a family!
Homesteading is a lifestyle centered on self-sufficiency, rooted in subsistence farming, food preservation, and manual labor to meet household needs.
Homesteading was just living to our ancestors. In today's homesteading, it's an intentional, voluntary return to producing one's own resources and developing self-reliant skills.
Bought land to start producing and supplying the need for our family. Big goals to not be so reliant on someone else for our food securities. We raise chickens, goats, meat rabbits and pigs, each animal has their own specific purpose here.
We would like to improve our gardening skills and possibly raise bees for honey and wax.

Biscuit recipe:
2 cups all purpose flour
1 Tablespoon baking powder

Cobbler recipe: Preheat oven to 350
1 ½ cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
¾ cup sugar
1 ½ cups ANY fruit puree including pumpkin. Homemade or store bought totally OK! Use 1 cup puree in the bottom of the pan and the other ½ cup in the wet ingredients for the dough.
¼ cup milk
¼ cup melted butter or oil
1 teaspoon vanilla
Mix wet and dry ingredients separately then combine.
Using an 8x8 pan, grease the pan. Add 1 cup of fruit puree into the bottom of the pan before adding the mixed dough.
After adding the thick mix, sprinkle ½ cup regular sugar and ½ brown sugar over the top before adding 1 ½ cups of boiling water on top of that. Yes, you read that correctly. TRUST ME!
CAREFULLY move to the middle rack for baking.
Into a preheated 350 degree oven for 40-50 minutes depending on doneness preferences.
Let cool for ten minutes and enjoy!
