He was a beloved servant of Allah, who dedicated his life to spreading the message of monotheism (Tawheed). One of the defining aspects of Prophet Ibrahim (a.s) was his unwavering commitment to follow Allah's commands, even in the face of the most difficult trials. Allah tested Ibrahim (a.s) with a profound command: in a dream, he was instructed to sacrifice his beloved son, Ismail (a.s), for the sake of Allah. After seeing the dream multiple times, Ibrahim (a.s) realized it was a divine order from Allah. He took Ismail (a.s) to the plains of Mina, intending to fulfill Allah's command. On the way, Ibrahim (a.s) explained the situation to his son, saying that he had seen a dream in which he was commanded to sacrifice him. Ismail (a.s), in his unwavering faith and patience, responded with remarkable calmness: "O my father, do as you are commanded. InshaAllah, you will find me among the patient ones" (Surah As-Saffat, Ayah 102). With complete submission to Allah, Ismail (a.s) was ready to be sacrificed. Prophet Ibrahim (a.s) prepared to carry out the command, but at the crucial moment, Allah, in His mercy, replaced Ismail (a.s) with a ram, saving his life. This act of obedience and devotion was honored by Allah, and today we commemorate this through the ritual of Qurbani (sacrifice).
