My name is Iren John Tengo, from Langimar in Menyamya District, Morobe Province. I am a teacher by profession, and for the last seven years, I have faithfully served at Mingere-Wenge Memorial Primary School in Nabak LLG, Nawaeb District. This school is cut off from basic services. There is no bridge…No highway road linking it…No government service at all. The only service standing for the people is the school. For seven long years, I carried the burden to keep education alive here. But instead of support and kindness, I faced greed, selfishness, and ignorance. Parents would tell their children not to bring food for me.Imagine that—being the only teacher, giving your life to a community, and still being treated as if you were nothing. One day, in frustration, I broke the old fragile school notice board that couldn’t even withstand the wind. But I replaced it with a stronger one, built with iron roofing and solid timber—so it could stand through rain and storm. But instead of asking me why…The chairman, the board, and the community came against me. They used bad words, cursed me, and even threatened to burn me alive with my family.I was deeply hurt. After seven years of sacrifice, this was the thanks I received. With a broken heart, I left with my family back to Lae City.So today, I make this appeal:To Mingere-Wenge School, and to all communities across Papua New Guinea—Never treat your teachers like this.Teachers leave behind their homes, their families, and their tribes to serve you. They bring knowledge, they shape your children’s future. So please, take care of them. Stop the hatred. Stop the bad attitudes.Without teachers, there is no development—no future. Thank you. #PNGNews #PNGLatestUpdates #TeacherLife #EducationMatters #InspiringStories #RealLifeStruggles #NeverGiveUp #RespectTeachers #HumanRights #StoryOfSacrifice #PNGVoices #TrendingPNG #HeartTouchingStory #PapuaNewGuinea
