This video honors the life and legacy of Tobias Combalicer Enverga Jr., the first Filipino-Canadian appointed to the Senate of Canada. Born on December 2, 1955, in Quezon Province, Philippines, Enverga earned a degree in Economics before immigrating to Canada in 1981. He continued his education in Ontario and became deeply involved in community service, eventually becoming the first Filipino-Canadian elected to public office in Toronto as a school trustee. Appointed to the Senate on September 6, 2012, by Prime Minister Stephen Harper, Enverga represented Ontario and championed multiculturalism and minority rights. Before advocating for his appointment, he worked for over 30 years as a project manager at the Bank of Montreal. He was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for his contributions. Senator Enverga passed away on November 16, 2017, while on official duty in Medellín, Colombia. His legacy lives on, inspiring future generations of Filipino-Canadians and advocates for diversity in public service. #TobiasEnverga #FilipinoCanadian #CanadianSenate #PinoyPride #Multiculturalism #PublicService #InspiringLeaders
