Cão Orelha was a mixed-breed community dog that lived for about 10 years in Praia Brava, a neighborhood in the north of Florianópolis, Santa Catarina.
He was considered a mascot of the community: residents and shopkeepers spontaneously provided him with food, shelter, and veterinary care.
Orelha lived with other dogs and people, was described as docile, playful, and affectionate, and even tourists who visited the beach knew him.
