It is said that Lord Shiva lit a dhuni while performing penance at this very spot, and this dhuni has been burning continuously ever since. Many mythological stories are prevalent about Chota Kailash Dham. According to a legend, Lord Shiva witnessed the battle between Rama and Ravana from this very hill during the Treta Yuga. During the Dwapara Yuga, the Pandavas also spent the night on this mountain peak during their exile.
