This subspecies lives exclusively in the Central Apennines and is at risk of extinction.
🧪 Thanks to the PNRR DigitAP project, 30 operators have collected more than 800 biological samples using non-invasive methods. Genetic analyses on these samples will allow us to estimate the number of individuals present and their geographic distribution.
🎯 The goal is to collect all the information needed to effectively protect Marsican brown bears.
