In late January 2026, a cook at an Olive Garden in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, had removed his clothes before diving headfirst into the fryers, submerging his head/upper body in the hot oil. Coworkers and at least one customer tried to pull him out; a female employee was burned in the process, and several staff had to evacuate through the back. He was transported to a local hospital with catastrophic burns and later passed away from his injuries.
