Let's know about the creator of the slogans of 'Jai Jawan Jai Kisan' and India's second Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri. 2nd October is not only the Gandhi Jayanti, but also the birthday of Lal Bahadur Shastri.
A railway accident, which took the lives of many people, in which he held himself responsible, and resigned as the railway minister. He supported White and Green revolution which helped in increasing milk production through support to Amul milk cooperative and formation of National Dairy Development Board.
On 15th August, 1947 he became Minister of Police and Transport. During his tenure, for the first time, women bus conductors were appointed.
During the 1965 India-Pakistan war, he appealed for a day of national fast, but before doing so, he practiced it himself with his family. Only when his children were able to sustain the fast, then he made a public appeal.
He died on 11 January, 1966 due to heart attack on his official tour to Tashkent, Uzbekistan, after signing the Tashkent Declaration with Pakistani President Muhammad Ayub Khan.
