Did you know that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) once directly stopped congregational Tarawih prayers?
In a hadith narrated by Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), recorded in Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim, it is recounted that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) once led his companions in Ramadan night prayers at the Prophet's Mosque for several nights.
Night after night, the congregation grew. The Muslims yearned to experience the beauty of the Prophet Muhammad's recitation of the Quran.
However, the following night, he did not leave.
Not because he was sick.
Not because he was tired.
But because of his love for his people.
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was concerned that congregational night prayers, made obligatory for his people, would burden them.
How much love he has for us... 🤍
After the death of the Prophet ﷺ, during the time of Caliph Umar bin Khattab, the Muslims were again united in one Tarawih prayer congregation.
May we be among those who live the nights of Ramadan with faith and hope in Allah.
