CCTV footage shows the shocking moment a man allegedly attempted to abduct a one-year-old girl outside an Esselunga supermarket in Bergamo, northern Italy, on Saturday, February 14.
The video captures the suspect violently grabbing the child as she walked out of the store with her mother, triggering a frantic struggle. Bystanders quickly rushed to assist the mother before police arrived at the scene.
Italian State Police said officers swiftly arrested the man. Following witness statements and a review of surveillance footage, judicial authorities charged him with attempted aggravated kidnapping and aggravated assault.
The child was taken to hospital for medical checks and was found to have suffered a fractured femur as a result of the incident.
Authorities continue to investigate.
