On Dec. 28, Bukima gave birth, increasing the Musilikale group to 24 gorillas! Bukima is a 31-year-old female who has lived in the Musilikale group since January 2019.
Bukima's life has not been easy. Over the years, she moved between six different groups, and she sadly lost several infants due to unrelated and unfortunate events. Today, Bukima has three living offspring. One lives in the Isabukuru group and is 10 years old, while two are with her in Musilikale’s group: Nyirindekwe, who will turn 4 in January, and this newborn.
Bukima is a very experienced mother, and this is clear in the video. She gently holds her newborn close to protect him from the cold rain, keeping his body warm. So sweet!
