Studying at a German university was indeed very challenging for a normal Naga Girl like me. Adapting to the German education system from the Indian system was not easy at all. The transition itself was tough, but looking back, I can confidently say it was all worth it in the end.
In India, education is often focused on good percentages and grades, I’m not surprise why there are a lot of educated unemployed youths….whereas in Germany, it is more about learning real-life skills. University courses here are designed in such a way that students must actively participate in seminars, presentations, group discussions, and practical projects. This approach truly prepares you for the real world.
Sometimes, I even miss those days despite the sleepless nights before exams and the constant stress. The pressure was real, because in a public university in Germany, if you fail a module three times, you are expelled from the program. That reality teaches you discipline, responsibility, and resilience.

Three years ago, I opened my NRE account not with a big plan, but simply as a small habit of parking a pinch 🤏 of money from my salary abroad every month.
Looking back today, I’m genuinely thankful that I took the time to do in-depth research on financial management instead of blindly trusting random online advice. Small, informed decisions really do add up over time.
If you’re an Indian living abroad and don’t yet have an NRE account, maybe it’s something worth looking into. Who knows you might end up thanking me later 😄
(Btw, just in case you’re curious: interest earned on an NRE account is tax-free in India, unlike an NRO account.)
New Year thought:
If you’re not wise with your decisions in life, people will use you like a puppet.
Happy New Year everyone 🥳
