James is the inventor of the Heel-Toe Technique, developed in the 1990s, enabling drummers to achieve and sustain extreme speeds. His drumming is a high-energy, mechanical death/thrash metal style influenced by Fear Factory, Dagoba, Kataklysm, Pantera, Slayer and Hate Eternal, combining power patterns, extensive double bass, speed, technicality and total aggression.
His music has featured on Rock Band, Guitar Hero, Spotify, Scuzz, Kerrang and Terrorizer. He is the drummer of UK thrash band Warpath.
With Wacken, Bloodstock, Download and multiple international tours behind him, he has performed with and alongside Slayer, Megadeth, Testament, Machine Head, Motörhead, Amon Amarth, Lacuna Coil, Dragonforce, Anthrax, In Flames, Epica, Napalm Death, At The Gates, Children of Bodom, Exodus, Avenged Sevenfold, HammerFall, Nevermore, Doro, Decapitated, Stratovarius, Evile, The Berzerker, Power Quest and X Japan.
