So thinking ahead…

June 22 marks 5 years since I released my fantasy novel Dutybound.

It’s an epic fantasy story inspired by the kind of JRPG storytelling I love — character-driven arcs, moral tension, big emotional moments, layered worldbuilding.

There’s also a full audiobook version narrated professionally (which still feels surreal to say).

I’ve been thinking about celebrating the 5-year anniversary with a live stream where I give away a limited number of audiobook promo codes to Mog Plays subscribers.

Basically: free audiobook copies + hanging out live while I talk about how JRPGs influenced the story.

Has it truly been a year…? It came so fast, yet felt like the longest time.

A year without you, little brother. What is there to say, other than it still hurts knowing you’re gone. They say time heals, but there isn’t a single day you haven’t crossed my mind—and honestly, I’d rather have it that way. At least then I know you’re still with me. The last thing I want is to forget.

I still cry sometimes… I’m crying right now as I write this. But each day, I try to get stronger—to be the person you loved, the person you’d be proud of. This year has changed me more than any other. Your death shattered me, yet taught me what it truly means to live… and to die.

I no longer fear death, because someday, I hope to see you again. I can’t imagine living forever in a world where I never would. The days we live, the memories we share, the moments we spend with the people we love—those matter more than anything money, power, or prestige can buy.

I’d give anything to spend just one more day with you. But since I can’t, I’ll live the best life I can—a life filled with memories you can share with me from the depths of my heart.

I will always love and miss you, Raymond. May you know the boundless peace, love, and grace of the love you left behind. I love you, little brother…
