Mulla Nasruddin inspected the well carefully. He walked around it, peeked inside, and scratched his beard. Then, without saying a word, he asked the villagers to bring a large wooden table. The villagers were confused, but they trusted his wisdom and did as he said.
Nasruddin placed the table upside down and told everyone, “Now flip this table right side up.” The villagers did it easily. Then he said, “This is exactly what your well needs—turning things around!” He instructed them to remove the stones blocking the flow at the bottom of the well. When the villagers followed his advice, the water became clean again.
