International Cocoa Initiative

The International Cocoa Initiative (ICI) is the leading organisation promoting child protection in cocoa-growing communities. ICI works with the cocoa industry, civil society and national governments in cocoa-producing countries to ensure a better future for children and contribute to the elimination of child labour.

Operating in Côte d’Ivoire and Ghana since 2007, ICI has worked in more than 1,000 cocoa-growing communities, where it has supported more than 3,000 community development actions to benefit more than 1 million people, more than half of whom were children. As a result of ICI’s assistance, more than 50 000 of these children now have improved access to quality education.

ICI’s vision is of thriving cocoa-growing communities where children’s rights are respected and protected, and where child labour has been eliminated.
